welcome to meditation practice, while in the shrine room we offer these basic guidelines:
  • remove hats and shoes before entering.
  • traditionally one sits cross-legged on a cushion on the floor. if this is not possible because of physical problems, one may sit in a chair.
  • feel free to bring your own cushion, it may be left in the shrine room.
  • dharma books & puja texts should not be put on the floor, but on a table or cushion..
  •  do not face the souls of your feet towards the shrine or the teacher.
  •  do not face the souls of your feet towards the shrine or the teacher.
  •  when entering the shrine room, a buddhist practitioner may do three prostrations facing the shrine, or make a short bow with hands folded. this is done as a symbol of the surrender of oneself and the desire to benefit all beings.
  • it is appropriate to stand when a lama enters the room, sitting only after the lama is seated.
